Currently preparing a Post-doctoral project on the role of images in contemporary culture, I received a PhD in the Social Sciences from the University of Antwerp in 2018 for a research on the relation between the city, photography and modernity in the works of two 19th century photographers: Edmond Fierlants, from Antwerp, and Militão Augusto de Azevedo, from São Paulo.

Stemming mainly from historical materialism, my research interests extend from political and anthropological theory up to visual culture, modernity and capitalism, philosophy of religion and literature.

With many ideas in mind and an amateur eye for photography, this website is a sample of my theoretical attempts to merge philosophy and anthropology, ethnography and concept by translating my experiences as a foreign PhD candidate into images, images into thought and thoughts into images.
